How to make the service life of die in pellet mill longer?

In recent years, the wood pellets have become increasingly popular as China's environmental protection policy has become more and more strict, and the supply of wood pellets has been in short supply in many areas. As the essential equipment for making wood pellets, the structure of pellet mill is constantly updated for flat die pellet machine in the beginning, then the horizontal ring die pellet machine to vertical ring die pellet machine. However, no matter how the model of pellet mill changes, the die always need to be replaced as the vulnerable part. Proper maintenance has a direct impact on the service life of the die and the processing cost of the pellet mill. Then, how to make the service life of the die in pellet mill longer?


 

1. Clean oil plants regularly.

It is known that at the end of production every day, oil plants should be used to fill the die holes. However, if the die would not be used for more than a month, it is suggested that oil plants inside the die holes should be taken out. In the process of long-term storage, the oil plants would get hardening gradually and difficult to be removed, seriously affecting the use of the die later.
 

2. Clean the die if not using for a long time.

If the die and roller are not used for a long time, it is recommended to remove the die for cleaning and storage. Pellets inside the die and the sawdust attached to the surface of die should be removed. On one hand, it can prevent hardening of wood pellets due to long time storage. On the other hand, the sawdust has water-absorbing quality, which could accelerate the corrosion on the surface of the die if not being removed.
 

3. The die should be stored in a dry and ventilated place.

Most of the dies in pellet mill are made of alloy steel that the surface of the die would be damaged because of air corrosion if being put in the wet place for a long term, which may reduce its service life.
 

4. Careful handling.

The die of pellet mill is high precision part. The structure of the wall of die hole may be damaged in the handling process and result in low molding rate and short service life when processing wood pellets.
 

5. Fill with oil plants.

At the end of pellet machine production each day, grind the oil plants for a period of time to ensure that the die holes are filled with oil plants, which has great benefits to the long-term use of die. The oil plants can be the mixture of waste oil and sawdust.
