The wood pellet plant is also known as wood pellet line or pellet plant which refers to a set of complete wood pellet mills is used to produce biomass wood pellets on a large scale. Wood pellet plants recycle waste such as sawdust, wood chips, wood shavings and other wood wastes into valuable fuel in the form of wood pellets.  Comparing with other method of producing biomass fuels, the wooden pellets has the features of simple mechanical equipment and technology, easy to operate, high adaptability to various kinds of materials, and the solid fuel are easy to transport and storage and is easy to realize the industrial production which can be applied in large scales. In the outline of developing the new energy and renewable resources in china, it has indicated that we have to develop the high efficiency direct consumption technology, solidification technology and gasification technology as an important tusk of energy work in the future. China has rich resources for wooden pellet fuel. According to estimate, it has about 5 billion wood energy resources in theory. At present, the available developed resources are mainly wood waste, which includes crop straw, firewood, Industrial wood scrap, logging and waste wood in the urban solid organic garbage. At present, our country product about 0.6-0.7 billion crop straw, 0.3 billion of them can be used as fuel, which are equivalent to 0.15 billion coal; there are many waste hills, waste hillside, saline alkali soil and other marginal land can be grown sugar cane, sweet sorghum, cassava, sweet potato and other energy crops. This has provides adequate condition for building of pellet plant in china. In addition, the rice husk, corn core, bagasse and other agriculture byproduct is large in amount which can be converted into wood fuel. There are a large amount of sawdust, barks, scrap in the wood processing residues and urban waste wood. Also the amount of residues in the forest harvesting and tending is large. In addition, we have a large amount of bamboo resources in our country, and the processing residue of bamboo is very large. 

 

The wooden pellet is a clean and eco-friendly energy. According to estimate, the sulfur content is only 0.01%, the ash content after consumption is only 1.5%, the expel of CO、CO2、SO2 and NO2 after consumption are lower than the specific emission standard of coal burning stoves. There is no dust and dirty thing in the burning of wooden pellet fuel, which ensures the clean atmosphere and reduce the cleaning job. Wooden pellet fuel is a natural fuel. It has remained the natural wood lignin after the process of compression and drying, it has no glue or adhesive. The wood pellet fuel has been proved as a solid fuel with complete consumption. The stove which used the wood pellet has about 1.2g/h emission on average which is far below 7.5g/h, the limit of the United States Environmental Protection, it also lower than the prescribed emission standards of coal-fired boiler which are up to the national environmental standard and has evident ecological advantages. 

 

The annual consumption of coal is about 1.6 billion ton in china, 0.9 billion of them are used for power generation, 0.7 billion of then are used for industrial stoves and home use boilers. The thermal efficiency of coal burning boiler is only about 60%, which has much emission of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Furthermore, coal fuel is a non renewable energy with heavy air pollution. The total sulphur content of coal includes the organic sulfur, pyrite and sulfate. The former two kinds of content are combustible, it generated S02 after consumption. The third one is not combustible which are listed into the ash content. According to estimate, 1 tons of coal will emit 9000-12000m³exhaust gas after consumption,9.6-2.4Kg of S02 and 30-60Kg dust, which product about 0.144-0.255 ton resides and a large amount of NO2. So, the wood pellet fuel will make great contribution during the replacement of about 0.7 billion industrial coal. 

 

In the rural consumption structure, the consumption of wood energy account for about 70% of the energy consumption for living, which account for 50% of the total energy consumption. But the applying of wood pellet fuel are mainly used for directly burning as firewood stoves, which has lower thermal efficiency, it is about 10-15%. While using of wood pellet fuel can greatly improve the thermal efficiency of the wood material. Due to the original loose state of these materials, 80-90% of the energy during the consumption has wasted along with the losing of smoking and ash content. If changing the physical condition of these materials and formed into a certain solid pellets or blocks, the thermal efficiency can be improved to over 80%.  Wood pellet fuel has so many advantages that it promote more and more people engage in this business, and more and more pellet plants are being build or have been build in china. On the contrary, building of more pellet plants has promoted the development of the biomass industry. 

 

High thermal efficiency of the wooden pellet 

The thermal efficiency of wood pellet is usually about 0.7-0.8 times of the coal, which means that thermal efficiency of 1.25 ton wood pellet of consumption is equivalent to about 1 ton coal of consumption. But burning the wood pellet in the matched stoves, the thermal efficiency is 1.3-1.5 times of the current coal burning stove. Therefore, the utilization rate of 1 ton of wood pellet fuel is equal to that of 1 ton of coal basically. It has market prospect for the wood pellet fuel to replace of the coal as the energy for the heating supplying stoves, hot water boiler and power generation fuel. 

Less occupying of space 

The wood pellet fuel has been passed through the high temperature compression. It greatly save the space for storage and is easy for transport at the same time. 

Safety energy 

The wood pellet fuel are made of the natural statement of biomass waste which contains no chemicals which are easy to lead to fission explosions, therefore it can not give rise to the poisoning, explosion and leakage etc. it can be used safely and reliably. 

Sustainability

The wood pellet fuel come from the waste materials, and it is converted from the waste materials or resides, the ash content after burning can be used as fertilizer to promote the growing of the plant. As long as it has sunshine, water and CO2, the wood pellet fuel needed by the biomass fuel will be last forever. 

 

Effective implementation of the Renewable Energy Law promotes the development of the biomass energy. Now our country’s biomass pellet plant has shown rapid development trend. During the development of biomass pellet fuel in china, straw pellet fuel has big portion. Due to the simple processing technology of straw pellet fuel; the wide spread of raw materials; it achieved using local resources, local processing, marketing, especially for the straw pellet for power generation, the preferential price subsidies, which make it developed rapidly. Under the government policy support, many pellet plant project has been constructed all over the country.  

 

Comparing with straw pellet fuel, the development of wood pellet plant is restricted by raw materials, climate and production cost and other factors, and the effort of the government policies for encouragement is not enough, so the development speed is not vey fast. Most of the time, the pellets quality and quantity depend on the construction of pellet plant in the areas which has rich biomass raw materials. Therefore, people have improved the consciousness to the environmental protection with the worsening environment, as well as the non-renewable natural resources, “low-carbon and green" biomass pellet fuel is popular increasingly. Building of Straw pellet plant is a project which is good to the local people and the government in the long period; we have to adhere to this aim. Especially wood pellet fuel depended on its simple processing technology, high density of finished products, high thermal value, high consumption efficiency and eco-friendly etc, has make people pay more attention to the wood pellet fuel in order to meet the energy demand. On 22, May, in 2009, Bureau of Administration of the State Forestry Administration forestation, has listed the solidification pellet plant of Huinan Hongri energy limited company as the biomass energy demonstration project of the national forestry bureau of administration. In the reply, it stated that Huinan Hongri energy pellet plant play an exemplary role in the "three residues" energy utilization, which increase the jobs opportunity in the forestry area, and protect the environment, it played a lead role of promoting forest health and other aspects. It means that more and more pellet plants will be will in china in the future under the promotion of the demonstration effect. 

 

The Yue Dian biomass power generation project was stared to construct officially in Zhan Jiang, Guang Dong province, on May 13th， 2010. The project covered an area of 300mu,  the total investment was about 2.5billion Yuan, the total installed capacity of planning is 4 * 50MW units. The building of more and more pellet plant provide enough biomass fuel for power generation, which has save a lot of energy cost and has less air pollution. It’s a win-win solution in the future. The biomass power generation of the first phase is 2*50MW units. The two units are planning to put into operation in December 2010 and February 2011, which was the biggest biomass power generation of single unit and total installed capacity in the national biomass power generation field.

 

In the environment of rapid development of biomass energy industry, Hulun Buir city is also unwilling to leave behind. A group of wood pellet plant emerges as the times require, like Manchuria Sen Yi wood pellet plant, Manchuria Huaqiang wood pellet plant, Manchuria Longsheng biomass processing factory, Manchuria Jia Fu wood pellet plant have settled in Hulun Buir city. It means that several pellet plant have been build in this region to meet the demand for pellet fuel. The government of Arong Qi and the Jiangsu realforce Power Engineering Company Limited invested about 350000000 yuan in total, to construct a 2 * 25000 kilowatts of straw power plant in Arong Qi, which would be built to achieve an annual generation capacity of 250000000 degrees; Hongkong Haiyue energy investment company intended to invest the waste wood high-tech biological processing project with the annual processing capacity of 600000 tons, in Manchuria city. The total investment of the project was 360000000 yuan, which covered an area of 350000 square meters. It mainly used for build the wooden elements, cellulose and solid molding of bio fuel production line. The establishment of the above biomass energy enterprises, laid a solid foundation for the development of biomass energy industry in Hulun Buir City, it also provided valuable experience for my company to promote forestry industrialization and develop the biomass energy industry.
